GOWNS-COVER-FAKE

GOWNS “DANGERS OF INTIMACY”  1-SIDED LP + MP3 DOWNLOAD CARD

This was originally released as 3″ CDR back in 2004, and was later released as a full-size CDR. Now, after years of being out of print we are giving it a release on the format it deserves. On this record, Gowns are Erika Anderson [Ex-Amps for Christ] and Ezra Buchla [Ex-Mae shi]. It also features guest vocals from Carla B0zulich [Evangelista, Geraldine Fibbers]. This was the first release by Gowns and it will leave you breathless. Various objects are plucked and strummed and vocals are whispered soft and sexily under a layer of buzzing cables and hissing machines. This record is both beautiful and haunting. White vinyl LP’s with printed labels, housed in white LP jackets hand screened and splattered in gold ink.

PRE ORDER! (There have been numerous problems with this release that have delayed it’s release, if you read the news entry’s on the main page they will keep you updated on that, and though we’re trying to sort things out and get this done as soon as we can, please keep in mind that we still have to finish the release before we can send it to you. You are more than welcome to pre-order a copy and you will certainly get your copy as soon as they’re done, we just aren’t sure when that will be yet. If all goes well we hope to have it out before the end of the year. Thanks for your patience.)

ANNI ROSSI & WHITMAN – 10″ + MP3 DOWNLOAD CARD

This record is a collaboration between Anni Rossi and Whitman that was recorded back in 2004 in small rooms in both Riverside and Valencia, California on a cassette four-track and until now has only been released as a very limited cd-r. This is a collection of seven songs that were written together by both artists; both lyrically and musically. However, it may not be what you’d expect to come from these two artists, as this record stands on it’s own and sounds very different from the previous work of either artist. The songs range anywhere from mellow ballads lead by guitar, viola and even piano, to upbeat chants driven by junkyard percussion. This is a limited pressing of 500 records, 300 of which are on black vinyl, and the 200 on burgundy vinyl. They come housed in white record sleeves with beautiful artwork by Kristina Collantes hand screened in burgundy ink. This is co-released with People In A Position To Know.

V/A – SUN, SMOG AND HATE  - LP + MP3 DOWNLOAD CARD

Five bands from Los Angeles, California and five bands from Phoenix, Arizona gather together to sing songs about the things they have in common: sun, smog, and hate. The idea behind this record was to create a collection of catchy/pop songs all negative in theme, and the results blew us away so much that what was originally planned to be a six artist cassette into a ten artist lp. Some of the best music in the country is coming out of Los Angeles and Phoenix, though it is often to covered in smog and heat waves that it is often overlooked. This record collects some of the most amazing, and often un-recognized artists from those regions, and bringing them together with full force. This record will leave you speechless. Black vinyl LP’s with pro-printed labels in a hand screened sleeve with large fold out illustration. Artwork done by Narwhalz.

The artists on this record are: Andrew Jackson Jihad, Asleep In the Sea, Clark 8, Foot Ox, French Quarter, I.E., John Thill, Splinter Cake, Voice on Tape, & Whitman.

WHITMAN  ”WHITE SUNRISE” – LP + MP3 DOWNLOAD CARD

You may remember hearing the name of this record at some point a few years ago, which would not be much of a suprise since this album has been in the works for a little over five years now. This is Whitman’s fourth full-length, and outdoes all of his previous work in just about every way. Recorded to tape at the Pixel Palace (rip) in Riverside, Ca. by Gilbert Loera and including more guest musicians than you can count on your fingers, one could say that this is his masterpiece (at least at this point). This is a collection of thirteen songs, choked out in smog and violence, dark and dusty. Lonelier than ever, voice raising high and loud before cracking. Comes on a white vinyl LP with pro-printed labels, housed in recycled record covers with two-color silkscreened artwork by Tara Tavi (Amps for Christ / Auto Da Fe) and a small lyric book. Limited to 500 copies. Co-released with Shrimper Records.

CLARK 8  -  S/T

This is a CDR version of the out of print cassette we released for them in 2008. Clark 8 is a daring and catchy band. It kind of like old SoCal pop punk infused with mid-90’s Guided By Voices. It’s the kind of record that station in rotation for weeks and keeps you singing along every time. Stamped CDR’s in hand screened chipboard cases of all new artwork , with an insert and a poster of the original cassette art.

JOHN THILL “GOTH TALES”

Many of you may already know Thill for his tendency to work with concepts for his releases, and this record lives up to that in full effect. This is a collection of eight songs about gothic/pagan culture. The songs are dark, distorted, and often disturbing. After a lengthly delay, we are proud to offer one of Thill’s most effective conceptual releases to date. The album come’s on tinted-red cd-r’s packed inside of  a heavy duty paper case with black on black printing and sewn together like an old spell book. Limited to a on time pressing of 100 copies, each hand numbered with an old type writer.

Here are links to download the songs “Sword of Fire” and “Dark Will“, two additional songs that didn’t make the album. Click on the titles to download them for FREE.

STELLALUNA “MY HEART IS AN ANCHOR”

This is the solo-project of Uggamugga member and Tiny Panda Records operator, Frances Lopez. After a limited, self-released EP, a handful of compilations, and a short tour up through the Pacific Northwest with Whitman, she has begun to get a lot of attention for her simple, but honest songs. This is a seven-song EP that is probably some of her darkest work; and is often both catchy and melancholy. The songs on this record are all tied to the ocean, bundled up in seaweed and lying in the sand, damp from the early morning mist.  The record comes on stamped cd-r’s in brown arigato pak’s with a two-color silkscreen of a starfish, drawn by Christopher Payne, who helped produce record.

WHITMAN “TOY GUNS AND TOMAHAWKS”

This is a re-release of an EP that was released in 2003 as part of the quilt series on Nightpass Handmade Records, but this a gem, and we’ve decided to give in one more chance to shine. This is a conceptual record that touches on fear, longing, and the search for “home”. It’s four songs, three of which are collaborations (with Gulliver, Brother Mitya, and John Thill), that are bridged together by instrumentals. This entire record was recorded to a hand-held tape recorder that was layered digitally and mixed by John Thill, giving it a very eerie analog feel. Comes on white, stamped cd-r’s, in plastic sleeves with hand-printed covers from a linoleum cut done by Ian Trout. Limited edition of 100 copies.

TACO BELL FELLA! – A TRIBUTE TO QUEM QUAERITIS

The cd comes in a two-color silkscreened sleeve, with insert and a vinyl sticker (to put on your raised truck). Rad artwork by James Bradley and mastered by American Gil himself. This is one release you don’t want to miss out on. It’s time to party hard, point your 40’s towards the ground, and get ready to rock out to 16 interpretations of QQ’s anti-guitar, fucked-up cumbia, free style jazz, and tropical hip-hop. So here it is, the final hurrah, in the memory of Michael J. Fox, for all the lawyers up and down 10th St., for the werewolves devouring children nightly near the Box Springs, and for all the speed freaks in downtown Riverside yelling “gimme dollah. this record will blow your fucking mind! ADAM LIPMAN “FEATHERED PALM TREES”

Adam Lipman hails from Half-Moon Bay, Ca. a small town easily overlooked on a map of the California coast. This record however, should not be. Lipman’s songs are so simple and gentle that they make your heart want to burst. This record was produced by American Gil at the Pixel Palace (rip) in Riverside, Ca. and includes a small gathering of guest musicians who add a beautiful tropical vibe to the record, by use of additional vocals, organ, percussion, violin, accordion, and other various instruments, making his songs more lively than ever. Packaged in digipaks with full color covers, snow sprayed discs, and a small booklet handpsewn and stamped with gold letters. (pressing of 200 copies).

HOUSEFIRES

BROTHER MITYA “HOME RECORDINGS”

Good things come to those who wait. This here is a long awaited follow up to Brother Mitya’s 2005 CDR “Melting Wax Daisies…”. It’s a collection of nine songs that were literally saved from the wreckage of a house fire that destroyed his home in Arcata, Ca. in February of 2008. The songs themselves are delicate and sound like they could break at any given moment. On this release he has a bit more direct and less raspy vocal delivery, a lot of times making the songs more catchy but at the same time not abandoning his incredibly unique vocal stylings either. Classical guitar with whispered lyrics, occasional accompaniment, and various sound collages, all soaked in a layer of warm, lo-fi hiss. Black cassettes with printed labels and color covers designed by Kristina Collantes with an insert that was saved from the flames.

nicolekidmancassette2

NICOLE KIDMAN – S/T

This cassette is probably one of the finest things we’ve released to date. Picture this, a young man standing behind his Casio keyboard, his face covered with an elephant mask constructed out of cardboard and duck tape. His hands are shaking as he starts to play a simply melody, you start to nod your head a little and then a beat drops accompanied by a shaky voice and you’re whole body becomes covered in goose bumps. His songs are nostalgic, sad, and brutally straight from the heart. It’s like being 16 again and sitting in your room listening to cassettes after you got sent away from the dinner tape. The songs cover the age old topics of life, love, and depression in a way that hits incredibly close to home. This is a collection of 9 brilliantly constructed pop songs that will stay stuck in your head for days. Come on blue foil cassette packaged in a three color, neon fur, silkscreened cassette box and a full color insert.

CHARLIE MCALISTER / ROLLIN HUNT

Charlie Mcalister offers up a fresh batch of manic folk songs dredged up from the marsh lands of South Carolina, while Rollin Hunt on the other hand entices you to enter his dream world, but as enchanting as that is, it will probably come much more like some kind of nightmare. This cassette is catchy and fun, at the same time that it’s bizarre and terrifying. But this match couldn’t be more perfect, and may just leave you staring at your stereo wondering what hit you. Did that asteroid scheduled to hit earth in 2012 arrive early and cause the magnetic fields to reverse all too soon? Are we ready for this? Comes on pink cassettes, in standard cases with full color J-cards and two inserts. Limited run of 100 copies.

SPLINTER CAKE “NO SHOES, WINDOWS DOWN”

Kelly is one hell of a song writer, and has been kind enough to let us release this fine collection of audios. This a fantastic collection of catchy, punk/pop songs, and you will probably find yourself driving fast with the windows down, and singing along at the top of your lungs to. It’s sort of nestalgic really, plus it’s a cassette, so that joyride might just take you by your old high school and leave you feeling pretty bad-ass. Comes on white tapes (C-17) housed in white cardboard boxes, screened in gold ink with artwork done by Jad Fair (of Half Japanese), with an insert. Limited edition of 100 copies.

GULLIVER “EVERY GOOD PATH”

Every Good Path is the most prolific material I’ve yet to hear from Gulliver (who also plays in the Wagon Tongues and has done alot of work with Whitman). After nearly three years of writing and recording this record it is finally available for you to hear. The songs feel a bit nestalgic, and are beautiful tales of love and distance. From the golden fields of Cherry Valley, Ca. to the forests and lakes of Forsyth, Mo. The songs wind their ways through field recordings and samples, creating a beautiful and memorable soundscape in which you could easily lost. Comes on green, sixty-minute tapes, with two alternate, full color covers, and packed full of pictures, notes, and various souvenir’s. Limited release of 50 copies.
