02.09.10 I know I said that my last update would likely be the last on here, but I have a few things I’d like to share with you.

It breaks my heart to announce that after five years, Gowns have decided to call it quits. I remember attending their first show, and have had the pleasure of putting out their first release (Dangers Of Intimacy, which was just re-released on vinyl and can be found in our store). I also happened to see their last performance, which was not planned to be a final show and in many ways wasn’t much of a musical performance at all. In the end though, it is very sad to see them go. However, they leave us with a final release; an epic 17 minute track called “Stand and Encounter” that was intended for their next album. This track can be downloaded for free off of Erika Anderson’s blog (which also talks more in depth on the bands break up). You can visit her site here:  http://cameouttanowhere.com/

In better news, Knight Rider just posted a video for their song “Dancing Together” from the lathe-cut 7″ we released for them. You can check out here:

Also, Foot Ox is moving to Georgia and is making a stop in Los Angeles with French Quarter (Stephen Steinbrink) on his way out there. This will likely be his last show out here for some time, and I highly recommend checking it out. For more information please visit: www.seancarnage.com  / Here’s the flier:

Other than that, we’re going back into the lab tonight to work on the new Folktale website, which we hope to have up and running in the next week or so.

____________________________________________________________________

02.06.10 We have some major things in the works. The Foot Ox / Splinter Cake 7″ is already underway and soon some lathe cut 7″ records by Stephen Steinbrink and John Thill will be as well. Also, before the month is through we will be launching a new website. We’re very excited about this, as it will the most efficient and nicely laid out site we’ve ever had. But in the meantime this site will continue to serve you, though this will likely be the last update on it. One last thing though, we have one copy of the Knight Rider lathe cut 7″ left, however it’s not up for sale in the store anymore. If you’re interested in this record please email us and we can work out the details. Otherwise it will be available in the store on the new site since we will have inventory control once that site launches. Thanks to everyone to their support over the years. if it weren’t for you none of thi would be possible.

____________________________________________________________________

01.29.10 Things have been really hectic but there probably won’t be anything to show for it for another month or two. The Splinter Cake / Foot Ox split 7″ has been sent off. It will be a pressing of 500 records. 400 of which will be on black vinyl and 100 on yellow. This record is a co-release with Tiny Panda Records and Stankhouse Records.

In other news, we have copies of the Gowns “Broken Bones” LP on Southern Records now available in the distro. as well as Nicole Kidman’s “7 Things I Hate About Me” cassette on Family Time.

More to come.

____________________________________________________________________

01.18.10 We are sorry to say that Jeff’s (Secret Abuse) computer crashed causing him to loose all of his files, and since our copy of the master of his lathe was sent to New Zealand, there is no master of that material, and therefore will be no cassette re-issue.

The Foot Ox / Splinter Cake split 7″ is in the process of getting sent to the mastering/pressing plant and should be out in a couple of months.

We are also very happy to announce that we are doing a lathe-cut 7″ series. This series will contain ten releases, each in editions of 30. 20 copies of those records will be available for individual sale, and the other ten copies will be released as a box set upon completion of the series with a bonus 7″ that will only be available with the set. The first release in the series is the Knight Rider lathe, so if you want a copy of just that 7″,  get it now because it’s down to it’s last five copies. The series will also include releases by: Stephen Steinbrink, Human Hands, Wigger Mom, John Thill, and more to be announced.

____________________________________________________________________

01.05.10 The Secret Abuse lathe-cut 7″ is now sold out. I’m sorry if you weren’t able to obtain a copy. I tried to make this as fair as I could for everyone to have a chance to get one. However if you’re still seeking this material, Callow God will be doing a limited cassette re-issue of this record. You can join their mailing list HERE, to get updates on that.

In other news, the Foot Ox / Splinter Cake split 7″ will be going to the plant this month, and a new batch of lathe-cut’s are getting prepared. These lathes will include a 7″ by Stephen Steinbrink (ex-French Quarter) and a 7″ by Wigger Mom (mem. of Narwhalz of Sound).

12.31.09 The Secret Abuse lathe-cut 7″, “The Craftsman’s Rhythm” is now finished and they came out really nice. However, due to the limited number of records that were made (only 25 of the 30 will go up for sale here) and the demand for them being much more than anticipated, we decided to give this record a release date in order to give everyone a fair chance to get one. There will also be a limit of one copy per order (no exceptions). So the release date for this record will be Tuesday, January 5th. Thanks and happy new year!

______________________________________________________________________

12.27.09 Knight Rider’s “Dancing Together” lathe cut 7″ is now available. These records came out really nice and they’re are only 30 of them, so don’t miss your chance to get a copy. Here’s a glimpse of what they look like…

We also got some copies of Nicole Kidman’s new cassette “Teen Worhip which was released on Obeast Tapes. You can find them in the Distro. section.

Also, whitman has launched a website that includes a complete discography, free mp3 downloads, a store, and a few other things. Check it out here: http://www.barbaric-yawp.com

The Secret Abuse lathe cut is still in the works and will be out sometime in January.

______________________________________________________________________

12.12.09 The first in a series of lathe cut records is now available. This release is an 8″ lathe cut by Gulliver called “Never Ask”. It’s available now, but there were only 30 of these made, so don’t sleep on this. We also received the 7″ lathe cuts for Knight Rifer and Secret Abuse which will be released in the next weeks as the packaging is finished up. The Foot Ox / Splinter Cake split 7″ will be sent off to the plant early next year and some new lathe cuts will be put into the works. Stay tuned.

_____________________________________________________________________________

12.08.09 In light of the holiday season we have uploaded a Christmas song that was made by a collaborative of effort of Whitman and Chaz Electricity. The song was originally released as a very limited Christmas card/CD-R, but is now here for free download. Enjoy!

WHITMAN & CHAZ ELECTRICITY – “WE ALL BELIVE IN SANTA CLAUSE” – MP3

____________________________________________________________________

12.02.09 The end of the year is approaching and I am happy to say we will be leaving this year on a good note. The Gowns LP’s are done and look/sound incredible. So if you’re searching for a gift, these are just in time for the holiday season. (and to all of you who pre-ordered the LP, your copies will be in the mail shortly. thank you for your patience.)

We’ve added a clearance section on the site and are letting go of a handful of distro items for practically nothing in order to help raise money for more projects.

Nicole Kidman will be hitting the road shortly for tour with Kevin Greenspon. Check for details on his myspace.

next up is the Foot Ox / Splinter Cake split 7″ and some cassettes from the likes of Snowstorm, Caldera Lakes, Human Hands, and more.

____________________________________________________________________

11.25.09 There are only three copies left of Gulliver’s “Every Good Path” cassette before it goes out of print.

Also, even though this isn’t a Folktale release, we feel it’s worth mentioning. There are only two copies left of the Whitman/Stellaluna split cassette on Tiny Panda Records before it’s completely out of print. These final copies can be found in our distro. section.  Whitman has the following to say about this release “My side of the tape contains four songs, all of which are about people that died of un-natural causes that either I knew, or were friends of friends of mine. It’s some of my darker work and is a release I am pretty proud of.”

We start screen printing the Gowns LP jackets tomorrow.

____________________________________________________________________

11.06.09 I have some good news, I got the refund for the LP jackets I had issues with and got new ones from someplace else. So I will start screening the covers for the Gowns LP shortly and it should be out before the end of the year.

____________________________________________________________________

10.25.09 All orders placed in October are packaged and will ship out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, been on the road and am now settling down again for a bit.

Not much news to report. There are only two copies of Gulliver’s “Every Good Path” cassette left, so if you want to get one before it goes out of print, now is the time.

We finally sorted things out with the company we bought LP jackets from for the Gowns records and they will be refunding most of our money. I don’t like to talk shit on here usually, but just to prevent any of you guys from going through the hell that I did, the company is www.squaredeal.com. DON’T EVER USE THEM! Anyways, when our refund arrives we will purchase LP jackets from someplace else, screen them and hopefully have that record out before the end of the year. If that happens that will likely be the last release of this year, though we have a lot of plans for 2010.

____________________________________________________________________

09.26.09 First off I want you to know that ALL ORDERS PLACED AFTER SEPTEMBER 30, WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL AFTER OCTOBER 15. And with that said, we have some news. The Clark 8 CDR is now finished and came out beautiful. These are available now in the store. Clark 8 will also have copies of this on his tour with Whitman, which starts next week. Here’s the details on that:

09.30 – UCI – Irvine, Ca.

10.01 – Prison! – Long Beach, Ca.

10.02 – Women – Los Angeles, Ca.

10.03 – House Show – Flagstaff, Az.

10.04 – Soho Cocktail Lounge – El Paso, Tx.

10.05 – Natrix Natrix House – Austin, Tx.

10.06 – Super Happy Fun Land – Houston, Tx.

10.07 – Jersey Girl Pizza – Odessa, Tx.

10.09 – MOV-In Gallery – Santa Fe, Nm.

10.10 – Dry River – Tucson. Az.

10.11 – LVC* House – Las Vegas, Nv.

10.12 – Pehrspace – Los Angeles, Ca.

FOR MORE DETAILS ON A SPECIFIC SHOW, VISIT THE WHITMAN MYSPACE OR THE CLARK 8 MYSPACE.

There is still no movement on the Gowns LP’s – but we hope to have these issues resolved soon. We also have more copies of the John Thill cassettes on Unread back in stock in the distro section. Other than that, we’re saving money and getting things ready for the next batch of releases.

____________________________________________________________________

08.26.09 The Brother Mitya cassettes are all finished and they came out awesome. You can purchase one now in the shop. Don’t sit on this baby though, only 100 of them were made.

The Clark 8 cdr should be finished in a couple weeks. We encountered a few problems printing the artwork and are sorting them out now. You can pre-order it now in the shop though.

The Gowns LP will be out in the fall. We’re still trying to work out the problems with the place we bought the record jackets from (which has been a huge pain in the ass). So for now I just get to start at the boxes of records stacked along the wall in my room.

____________________________________________________________________

08.12.09 We just received the Gowns LP’s and they look and sound amazing. However, even though we now have the records we had some problems with the company we ordered record jackets from and are trying to sort that out right now, so it will still be a little while before these are ready to go.

On the other hand the Clark 8 CDR and Brother Mitya cassette are nearly finished and will be out in a week or so.

Sadly though, all of this left us with 83 cents in our bank account, so we put all three releases up for pre-order in the store to try and help out with the remaining costs. Anything you order from us right now would be very helpful in competing these releases.

____________________________________________________________________

8.02.09 Just moved into a nice room. It’s really bare and I am currently sleeping in a sleeping bag on the hard wood floor, but I’m really excited to have my own room again.

Money has been very scarce lately, but you can expect the CDR re-issue of Clark 8’s cassette and the new Brother Mitya cassette later this month and if all goes well, the Gowns LP will be out in September.

You can always help fund these releases and speed the process of things up by purchasing current releases. There is also a clearance section on the distro now of things I want to get rid of or only have a few copies of.

____________________________________________________________________

7.21.09 Please note that we have a new address, which is listed on the contact page. If you’ve already sent something to the old address, don’t worry, that address is still functional, it just take longer for me to get the mail since it’s a couple hours away from where I’m living these days.

On that note, I will be moving into a house with my good friend Margot (who plays awesome music under the name I.E.) and her girlfriend next month. I haven’t had a stable living situation for the past fifteen months, so I’m really looking forward to this.

Summer is in full effect in Los Angeles and the heat is as brutal as ever.

The Gowns tests pressings have been approved and are now being pressed. Lots of stuff on the way.

____________________________________________________________________7.14.09 The test pressings for the Gowns LP have arrived and have been sent to the band for approval. If all goes as planned, this will be out in September. We are also going to be releasing a cd version of the cassette we did for Clark 8. This should be out in early August along with the Brother Mitya cassette.

____________________________________________________________________

7.07.09 We’re expecting the test presses for the Gowns LP any day now. The three lathe cut records we sent off to New Zealand are waiting in a long line to get cut, and as it looks, we won’t be expecting them until late fall. In the meantime we are waiting on masters for both the Brother Mitya and Caldera Lakes cassette’s. We also just got the masters for the Foot Ox / Splinter Cake split 7″ which is so good. We’ll be sending that off to the plant shortly. Nicole Kidman has started recording for his 7″ and it’s sounding super awesome. We will also be doing a split 5″ lathe cut between Whitman and No Babies at some point. So much in the works. You can always help the process of all this by purchasing some of our releases or helping us clear out our distro. (which we still have a blow out sale for).

____________________________________________________________________

6.30.09 All the pre-orders for the Anni Rossi + Whitman 10″ have been sent out. Again, we’re really sorry for the long delay. Any new orders will ship when ordered. We still have some colored vinyl left too, but they’re going fast. Here’s what you’re looking at (probably the most beautiful looking record we’ve ever released):

____________________________________________________________________  6.20.09 The Anni Rossi + Whitman 10″ collaboration record’s are finally done after many issues with the pressing plant. We did these through a plant we’ve never used before, and I guess we should have stuck to what we know. The records will start shipping next week. I’m really sorry to everyone who pre-ordered a record an has been waiting for months, we never intended to have this many problems. The good news is that we have a decent amount of the colored vinyl versions, which are more limited, so grab one of those while you can.

much more on the way.

____________________________________________________________________  6.11.09 our sale is still in full affect. I just updated the distro page with a few final items/re-stocks. Our goal is clear out 90% of that section and use the money towards the many releases we have planned. So check it out, get hooked up, and help us out.

Also, we found a couple copies of the following Folktale releases:

Chaz “Banana Oil” – CDR

Shelty “Upon The Shining…” – CDR

both of this have been out of print for a long time, so here is your last chance to get yourself a copy. They are $5 each in the US and $8 each outside of the US. These count as sale items as well. If you are interested in this, send us an email and let us know.

____________________________________________________________________

5.29.09 We’re having a HUGE SALE in our distro section to help clear stock and make room for all the upcoming Folktale releases. Go to the distro page for the details.

____________________________________________________________________

05.23.09 We added a new page to the site. It’s called “Listen” and you can find it on the navigation bar above. The page contains free MP3’s from many of our releases, both ones in print and out.

____________________________________________________________________

05.22.09 The final batch of Stellaluna’s “My Heart Is An Anchor” record have been finished and can be purchased in the store. No more of these will be made after this batch is gone, so grab one while you can.

____________________________________________________________________

05.11.09 All the material for the Knight Rider, Secret Abuse, and Gulliver lathe records has been sent to Peter Kind in New Zealand for manufacturing. The Brother Mitya and Caldera Lakes cassette’s are being mastered and should soon begin the dubbing process. And last but not least the Gowns LP will soon be on it’s way to the record plant. So needless to say this summer is going to be very busy with releases.

The material for the Foot Ox / Splinter Cake split 7″ is done and will soon be ready to get sent to the plant. We are also very excited to announce that we will be re-releasing Foot Ox’s self titled cd-r as an LP later this year.

Stellaluna’s “My Heart Is An Anchor” cdr is temporarily out of print until we finish screen printing and packaging the final 100 copies.

____________________________________________________________________

o5.05.09 Unfortunately we have some bad news. The Anni Rossi + Whitman 10″s arrived and nearly all of them are badly warped. In addition to that, the center labels were printed too large and cover some of the grooves. So we now have to start the whole pressing process over again, which is going to delay this release by a month of two. We’re really sorry about this and will work with the pressing plant to fix this problem as quickly as possible.

____________________________________________________________________

04.19.09 We have upgraded our storage space and we now have FREE MP3’s for most of our releases available for download in the store. We will be adding a few more eventually. But for now go on and check it out and you can get a better feel for what each release is like and we’re all about.

____________________________________________________________________

04.17.09 Okay, just for fun, and because when the year ends and I have to try and think of my favorite ten records of that year and I can never remember what came out that year or the year before, I have created a list of both my three favorite albums and my three favorite songs (that aren’t on those albums) of the year so far. so enjoy, and if I’m lucky it will introduce you to something awesome you didn’t already know about. <3

THESE ARE MY CURRENT TOP THREE RECORDS OF 2009:

1. WOODS “SONGS OF SHAME” - LP/CD (WOODSIST/SHRIMPER)

This is their best work to date by far. Jeremy Earl has really figured out his formula for writing truly amazing pop songs. This album is much fuller and psychedelic that his previous recordings and the additional instrumentation works so well. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was still my favorite record of the year when it come to an end.

2. THE CORNDAWG “I’M NOT READY TO BE A DADDY” – LP (NATRIX NATRIX)

Johnny Corndawg is an amazingly brilliant man who I was recently lucky enough to play a show with. He songs are country songs but in the vein of an old Slim Whitman record or something and are hilarious lessons about life. This record technically came out in 2008, but he just released a CD bootleg of it that he manufactured himself while in India, so I’m counting it for 2009, since that’s when I discovered it.

3. STEPHEN STEINBRINK “UGLY UNKNOWNS” – CD (GILGONGO)

This record easily beats out his French Quarter record in every way, and I thought that record was mind blowing. Stephen is one of the most talented song writers I know and has created a beautiful album that touches so well on the topics of love, longing, and life on the road.

THESE ARE MY CURRENT THREE FAVORITE SONGS OF 2009 (THAT ARE NOT ON MY FAVORITE ALBUMS):

1. “BROMANCE” BY TREASURE MAMMAL

This song is brilliant. T. Mammal has always had a way with words and concepts and this song is no exception. Pure gold! This song is currently un-released but you can listen to it online HERE or hear him play in live and pretty much every one of his shows.

2. “THE COPS (TUCSON VIOLENCE SONG)” BY STEPHEN STEINBRINK

If you have ever lived in an area where you feel like you have to look over your shoulder when you walk someplace at night, or where the ring of sirens is a familiar sound as you lay in bed, then I don’t see how this song couldn’t grab you. Stephen really knows how tell you stories and is able to make even the simplest things in life show how meaningful they are. This song can be found on his CDR “You Are Dead” which you can purchase from him HERE.

3. “SHAVED LIKE A RAZOR” BY THE CORNDAWG

Another classic from The Corndawg. He seems to have the capability of making everything you’ve thought about, or done have a comedic appeal to it, no matter how serious or fucked up it can be, and I know much about laughing at the pain, but I have never heard anyone write songs with that formula before that does it so well. I don’t see how you could not enjoy his enthusiasm and sense of humor. As far as I know, this song is not released but you can listen to it online HERE.

________________________________________________________________________________________

04.16.09 We just re-designed the distro section of the website. From now on we will be doing things a little differently as far as that’s concerned. We realized that’s it’s a whole lot of work to run a distro and have decided to cut back on what we carry. The distro page has been divided into sections by other record labels and we are going to focus our attention on carrying releases on those labels. These are labels run by friends of our who are doing awesome shit that we want to help spread the word about. Other than that, we will only be carrying releases by artists we release things buy or one’s that we really like and feel you should know about. It’s just to much work to build up a decent size disrto. and we’d rather focus our energy on what we’re releasing.

________________________________________________________________________________________

04.15.09 The Nicole Kidman cassette’s are now finished.

That is all.

________________________________________________________________________________________

04.13.09 The Anni Rossi + Whitman 10″ is taking a little bit longer than planned, but will be done soon. Everything is ready, we’re just awaiting the records to arrive from the plant and they’re good to go. As you may already know there are only 150 of these that were made on colored vinyl and we will not being that many of those after the records are divided up between the artists and the other label that helped release this, so if you really want one on colored vinyl then pre-order it. We’re giving the colored vinyl to the people the pre-order on a first come first serve basis and there are only like 5 or 6 orders right now, so your basically sure to get it if you order now.

The Nicole Kidman cassette’s are basically done, they just need to be assembled and should start shipping by the end of the week or so.

________________________________________________________________________________________

03.28.09 The Nicole Kidman cassette is now up for pre order and will ship out mid to late April. This is one amazing tape, and comes in a cassette box with awesome, three color, hand screened artwork. He will also have copies on his tour with Whitman and Stellaluna which starts in late April. Check out  the awesome poster for that below…

We also added a couple new items in the distro.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

03.20.09 There are so many things in the works right now, and we’re really excited about all of them. Currently, cassette are being dubbed and a package is getting ready to be sent to New Zealand for a few lathe 7″ records. Today was spent screen printing the first layer on the box for the Nicole Kidman cassette with a blown out screen. It’s the first of three screens that will be used and came out awesome. Check it out:

This cassette will be out for the Whitman, Stellaluna, Nicole Kidman tour in late April. Check out their myspace pages for details on that. Following these 3 cassette releases and 3 lathe cut records will be some more pressed wax from the likes of Gowns, Foot Ox, Splinter Cake, and more.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

03.09.09 We have uploaded our entire catalog onto www.discogs.com, and you can link to each specific release through our catalog page. So if there was a release in the past you wanted to know more information about, now you can.

Also, we’ve put the Anni Rossi & Whitman 10″ up for pre-order in the store. These are expected to ship in early April. We will only be getting a limited number of these since only 500 are being pressed and it’s co-released with another label. Plus there is only a hand full of copies that will be on colored vinyl, and Im not even sure how many of those we’ll be getting, but they will to any pre-orders on a first come, first serve basis. However, please note that if you order anything else while pre-ordering this that none of your order will ship until the pre-orders are sent out, unless you get in contact with is and pay the difference in shipping.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

03.07.09 Good news! John Thill’s “Goth Tales” album is finally finished. After many problems with packaging and art we finally got it all figured out and it looks amazing. This is limited to a one time pressing of 100 copies, and each copy is numbered, so don’t sleep on this baby, it will go fast. And for everyone who’s been waiting months for their pre-orders, we are very sorry this has taken so long, but all outstanding orders have been sent out. Plus, since we feel bad we took so long, we have posted links to download two, additional songs that didn’t make the record for FREE in the store.

Also, both “Sun, Smog and Hate” and Whitman’s “White Sunrise” album are now coming with download cards that will allow you to download MP3’s of the entire record. This will be the case for a lot of our upcoming vinyl releases from now on as well, including the Anni Rossi + Whitman 10″ that will be out in early April.

Lots of new stuff on the way.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________02.13.09 A lot of moving around lately, sleeping on various couches and floors. Things have been pretty hectic, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t been awesome. We have so much planned and in the works that we’re way stoked on.

First off, starting in March sometime both Whitman’s “White Sunrise” LP and the “Sun, Smog, and Hate” LP will come with free digital download cards. So if you’re gonna order one of these and want the digital version as well, I would hold off on ordering until we have the cards ready. You will also being seeing download cards of this nature with a lot more of our future releases.

The Anni Rossi + Whitman collaboration 10″ is at the plant now and the covers are currently being screened. These are going to look amazing. There will be 350 records on black vinyl and 150 on burgundy vinyl. These will be very limited as it’s a co-release with PIAPTK so we’ll probably only have like 200 or so copies, so keep your eye out for these, they will go fast.

We also have two lathe cut 7″ records in the works. One for nomadic noise legend Secret Abuse, and one for the Los Angeles based noise/pop/industrial duo Knight Rider. I just got the master for the Knight Rider one, and is  really amazing.  Some of my favorite  material I’ve ever heard them do.  So look for these two records sometime this spring. These will also be super limited. There will be only 30 made of each, and will come very nicely hand packaged.

The three tapes mentioned in the previous post are also still in the works.

I wish the rain would stop already.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

01.30.09 If you have tried to order something off of our distro page recently and have had problems, it wasn’t because we were trying really hard to sell those Peter Holy 3″ cdr’s, it was because for some reason something went wrong and linked nearly all of the distro items to that one release. However, we have fixed that problem, so the distro section is once again fully operational.

In other news, we are sorry to say that we have ran into even more problems with John Thill’s “Goth Tales” album, and think we will have to make new plans on how we’re going to package it. We are very sorry this has been taking so long, especially to those who have placed pre-orders for it.

We just got the master for the Nicole Kidman cassette and it is fucking killer. He is really an amazing songwriter. So look out for that, as well as the Brother Mitya and Caldera Lakes cassette within the next month or two.

We have also begun uploading all the info for our releases both past and present at www.discogs.com. (This is a really awesome site that you should check out if you’re not already familiar with it). Eventually we will have everything we’ve released on the site and will be able to see all the details as well as pictures of each release. As we do this we will be linking the releases to the site from the “Catalog” page (which we have already began doing).

Also, Whitman and Anni Rossi are about to head out on a short tour through the deserts of California and Arizona. So if you live in either of those dates, check out their tour info on their Myspace pages.

01.21.09 We have a lot of stuff in the works, a lot of which is just waiting for the music, art, and or funds to get it released.

The final batch of Stellaluna’s “My Heart Is an Anchor” EP should be finished soon, as well as John Thill’s “Goth Tales” album.

We’re also working on getting everything together for the Nicole Kidman, Caldera Lakes, and Brother Mitya tapes.

The master for the Anni Rossi + Whitman 10″ was just sent in, so that should be underway soon. That record will come with free MP3 downloads for the whole record as well, which we are pretty siked on. This will be a co-release with PIAPTK.

We will be doing a couple limited run, lathe cut records as well to help raise money for some of the bigger vinyl releases. This will include a picture disc 7″ lathe by Wigger Mom, one of our favorite side projects of Brian Bloomerth (Narwhalz), as well as a 7″ lathe for a project of Jeff Witscher’s, one of our all-time favorite noise artists, who has been in projects such as: Deep Jew, Rainbow Blanket, Impregnable, Me Who Can’t Love, and many others. all scum and ragin’.

3. Evangelista “Hello, Voyager” – CD/LP (Constellation)

4. Woods “Some Shame” – cassette (self-released)

5. Abe Vigoda “Skeleton” – CD/LP (PPM) _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 01.02.09 We greet the new year with open arms and a hand full of plans for new releases. . Stellaluna’s new EP, “My Heart Is An Anchor” has nearly sold out of it’s first 100 copies in only a months time. We are awaiting more cases to start screening the second batch of 100, but don’t sleep on this one.

.We are also sorry to announce that the John thill cd is still delayed and will hopefully be getting screened soon. For those of you who have placed pre-orders, we thank you for your patience and will find something cool to throw in your package. We have also extended the offer for the free mp3’s, which will continue until the cd’s are done and it is no longer a pre-order.

. The long awaited “Sun, Smog, and Hate” LP is also now available for pre-order and will start shipping in mid-January. If you live in either Los Angeles or Phoenix there is a release show for the record in both of those cities this month. Here are the details on that:

.

January 17th – at The Trunkspace – Phoenix, Az.

January 26th – at Pehrspace – Los Angeles, Ca.

. The Nicole Kidman cassette should be out in February, and we are very siked on this. This guy is one of our favorite performers and songwriters at the moment. His tape will be followed shortly by a cassette of all new material by Brother Mitya entitled “Home Recordings” , a cassette release by Caldera Lakes, and 10″ record of a collaborative EP by Anni Rossi and Whitman (which will be co-released with People In A Position To Know).

. Lots more will follow. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 12.17.08 We are sorry to say that John Thill’s “Goth Tales” cd will be delayed a little. It seems we under-estimated how much work it was going to be, and not just by a little bit. This is probably one of the most elaborately packaged releases we’ve done, and I can assure you in it will be worth the wait (this directed mainly to those who have placed pre-orders).

.

A good amount of the new Stellaluna EP’s are finished and have been shipped to everyone who has pre-ordered it and will continue shipping when ordered. . There is less than two weeks left to receive the bonus mp3’s for both releases though, so place your order before grandfather time kick the chair out from under his feet. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 12.12.08 We have a created a very limited edition version of Stellaluna’s new EP “My Heart Is An Anchor”. This version comes in special, deluxe packaging and is hand numbered and limited to 25 copies. The only way to get this version is from her at one of the shows on her tour with Uggamugga which starts this weekend. For more details on the tour visit: www. myspace. com/stellalunaisreallyjustfrances _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 11.22.08 Folktale is now distributing all the remaining releases from Nightpass Handmade Records, which is a now defunct label that was run by my friend John Thill, and had great part in inspiring me to start a label of my own. Check out the distro section, there is a lot of awesome stuff in there, though most of it is in very limited quantity’s. I have only one copy of some of those things. So act now. don’t miss out on getting your hands on these gems. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10.15.08 Okay, it’s been a while since I’ve sent out a thorough update, so I think it’s time that it’s due.

I’ve spent the past five months traveling and being un-employed. I’ve seen much of the mid-west, southwest, and Pacific Northwest in that time period and spent time and got to know a lot of amazing people. I recently returned to Los Angeles, and am trying to settle in the heart of the city, rather than it’s sprawling suburbs. I have barley enough money to get by, and just recently got a job making coffee near Hollywood. I am still looking for a place to live but have very little funds to do so. I’ve had a lot of great experiences throughout this past year but am ready to mellow out for a while and am trying hard to make thin work in the city of angels.

I know that things have been a little slow where the label is concerned, but there are a lot of amazing releases in the works, a lot of which are just awaiting the funds to make them happen. However we are releasing two awesome cd’s before this year is over, both of which will come out in December and will be available exclusively in the site for that month as a pre-order. They will ship when the ordered is placed, and because it’s the giving season, all pre-orders made in December will come with bonus mp3’s.

.

After ending the year on this note, we will be starting the new one on an equally as good one. January marks the release of the long awaited “Sun, Smog, and Hate” LP. This record consists of five Los Angeles based bands (Whitman, John Thill, Voice on Tape, Clark 8, and I.E.) and five Phoenix based bands (Foot Ox, Splinter Cake, French Quarter, Andrew Jackson Jihad, and Asleep in the Sea), each playing pop songs, negatively themed in nature. The Lp’s are on black vinyl with gold on black center labels, that come in hand screened sleeves with a Lakers/Suns color scheme and awesome artwork done by Brian Bloomerth (Narwhalz). There will be a release show in each city for it.

.

Thanks to everybody for their support!
